Otto shoes, summer shoes.
Hello, Bonjour, Buongiorno,
My name is Otto, O.T.TO, not das auto, Yes, I'm German.
I'm not going to talk about the incredible car that we do the best. But something more exotic, no. No beer, no Bretzel, no schnitzel, and no comic story. I want to speak about something specific to our culture when we go on holiday. Some German have the summer shoes that we call "Jesus' shoes." No idea what's it looks like. Let me give you a rough description. The shoes that we, Nordic people, wear with a white sock under 30°c. You can recognize us on the tour bus, the guy with grey or khaki short and simple shirt or tropical chemise.
Now the first question you may ask is, why wear socks when it's so warm? Tow reason, one keeps the feet out of the dust in the city, two to not get the stripping feeling when your feet sweat. Are German people too practical? I don't think so. We like to have everything simplified. We believe if it makes sense to a kid, then it is good to use does. I've got my first pair of in the '70s when my nice mom. She was sweet. Put me into me one of the most common teenage camps. If I clearly remember, it was "Leipzig kamp." So, arriving there in mid-July, its worm. But less than in Spain, where my mother went with my father's family this summer, in Seville. You got all the activities set up for every day, and of course teenagers, we wear we went out after the curfew, to a famous hippie festival at the time, where you got a lot of free concerts every night for the full summer period.
My friends, Jan, didn't think so clearly when he left putting on flip flops. It did not last him long before people were walking on his feet all the time. We finally reach the front row, then my friend and I were picked up to go on the scene, in between a change of artist. Jan said some stupid jokes on his flip flops and made me do a parade to showcase my so cool shoes. We then start to sing emblematic old German funny songs while waiting for the next group to come up. It was a fun night, I can say. I'm telling you this short story because a few weeks ago, a famous German journal had published a picture of Jan and us of this same night. Then, this idea of trying to make those shoes more special came to me. So here I am trying to give you a look at what great memories a good pair of last longing shoes can do.
